Weight Management

Do you want to look good and improve your health at the same time? Try Mississauga Bioenergetics 12 week Weight Management Program. No dangerous diets. No unrealistic exercise demands. Just good Nutrition accompanied by a mild Detoxification Program.

Bernadette will start this program by analysing your fat to muscle ratio, carry out a Nutritional Analysis with you, utilize a 60 point Biomeridian Testing Protocol to determine any imbalances which may be influencing your weight and work with you to determine what your personal objectives are.

Following your initial analysis session, Bernadette will work with you to determine an appropriate Nutritional Plan, a simple Detoxification Program, Nutritional Supplementation and Nutritional Meal Replacements where indicated together with a simple and low key exercise program.

Do not fall victim to fad Diets!
Muscle is what gives us the body shape we seek. Do not fall victim to fad starvation diets or potentially dangerous weight loss pills - in the long run, your body will only end up retaining fat and you may actually loose lean tissue (muscle). Many fad diets are actually dangerous to your health and may, in the long run, do you more harm than good.

Bernadette can help you with a weight management program that you can maintain indefinitely. Your program will include practical dietary guidelines based on sound nutritional practices with food that you will enjoy and without the quantity restrictions that make so many fad diets a nightmare of deprivation. Meal replacement may be an option you wish to consider after consulting with Bernadette - Bernadette will help you decide on an appropriate meal replacement, together with any nutritional supplementation your body may indicate is needed.

A mild Detoxification Program is also usually included. Bernadette will assess your needs and work with you to determine a detoxification plan that is suitable for you.

What is right for you?
After measuring your body composition and conducting an exploratory session with you, Bernadette will work with you to determine a program that is right for you. A healthy program that includes the following will target fat and preserve muscle:

A Healthy Diet

The low calorie diets commonly used in weight loss programs may not be beneficial and may even produce fatigue, dizziness and weakness. A diet consisting of fruits, vegetables and fiber-rich whole grains as well as healthy proteins and fats will ensure adequate nutrition and a feeling of fullness.

A Simple Exercise Program

Non-vigorous exercises such as moderately brisk walking or swimming can provide health benefits similar to those gained from more visgorous activities like running.

A Mild Detoxification Program

A simple and mild detoxification program will assist your body in getting rid of the toxins that contribute to weight gain and inhibit weight loss.

Urban Sprawl is a big contributor to Obesity
While the idea of ‘big’ has prompted millions of Canadians to flock to the suburbs: big houses, big driveways, big malls and the chance to raise big families – they may also be putting themselves at risk for a big problem: obesity. A just released Comprehensive Health Report, titled A Picture of Health, by the Region of Peel finds that the way we’re building our suburbs with far distances between homes and stores, jobs and schools is an important contributor to obesity and its related diseases. In Peel, practically every second person (47% of the population) is overweight or obese. "Sprawling low-density development has been a widespread trend in Peel for the last ten years," says the report’s main author and Region of Peel Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Mowat, “and solid evidence links such sprawl to lower levels of physical activity, transportation injuries, and poor air quality."

The real public health issue for the report’s authors is the dramatic spike in diseases associated with obesity, notably diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke and osteoarthritis. "The prevalence of diabetes in Peel has risen rapidly during the past decade,” says Dr. Mowat, “and this increase is expected to continue due to an aging population, rising obesity rates and the influx of high-risk immigrant populations." If you’re new to the country and are hoping you’re exempt from these risks, think again. Peel is a population of new immigrants (49%) and although they’re healthy when they arrive, the report finds that the longer they stay the more likely they are to adopt the health behaviours of the average Ontarian. Since a mass exodus from the suburbs – or the creation of more walkable neighborhoods – is not foreseeable in the near future, the Peel report is calling for a dedicated and proactive campaign to encourage citizens to eat well, move more and live longer. "Canadians take it for granted that better prevention and treatment of disease is going to guarantee a longer lifespan, but it could all be jeopardized by the growing threat of obesity and its consequences, especially diabetes," said Dr. Mowat.
